Tiny T-shirt Tears
There is a particular T-shirt that I wear daily.
They come in a lot of colors. Heavy duty. Breast pocket.
A bit more expensive? Sure.
A lot better? Definitely.
And very long lasting.
I've written a lot about buying quality. This is not that email.
But you should...
So these T-shirts. They last a long time. But not forever.
Well, forever came recently with my favorite T. It was time to replace, so I ordered a new one.
Then one morning I was in a rush, I put on the new shirt and realized the tags were on. So I grab some scissors and snipped.
The tags and a bit of the collar...
And you know what?
I was distraught. My new shirt. Ruined.
But was it? No, not really.
I put it on and went about my day and soon forgot all about it.
It's a little bit of a bummer, but it was a quick, real life reminder to not cry over spilled milk.
It happens. Deal with it and move on with your life.
I've worn the shirt a dozen times or more since. I see the snip every time and am reminded how little it was in the grand scheme of things.
If we can hand that much power to a T-shirt, imagine how much we hand to the big things...
Failed projects. Lost business. Health scares.
Most of it, you can't change. You can only decide how much of you it gets to keep.
I'm choosing not much. Starting with the shirt.
Best,
John
